Happy New Year, everyone! So, with 2008 now here, we've been getting a few emails from eager hitchhikers who want to take part in version 2.0. We regret to inform you guys that due to financial drawbacks, as well as lack of planning on our part, we will no longer be holding the race this summer. We've postponed it under further notice to ensure that the next race coming up will be better, safer and more exciting than the last.

Thanks for your ongoing support and interest. We're really trying our best to get this project rolling!

Happy one year anniversary to the first ever Thumbs Out Canada race!

Editing is coming on slowly. We've just been having some technical difficulties, but it will be dealt with this weekend, so things should take off from there.

Other than that, everything is fine and dandy. We hope to update the site with more fun hitchhiking clips for you to enjoy. Thanks for all the support, guys!

...Just a little gem we found while sifting through footage.

My last semester of film school is now in full swing and so is the editing of the documentary. The footage looks awesome so far and we are very excited.

Some news! Thanks to a very generous donation, we finally have the harddrive space we need to finish editing our film. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Us poor, starving filmmakers can finally get this documentary done and hopefully released sooner.

Also, a new podcast will be in the works, hopefully for January. We've just been so busy with working on student films for my last year at Ryerson Image Arts, as well as trying to make money to put some food on the table that we haven't gotten a chance to put together something in quite a while. That should change soon though.

In the mean time, I've put in a new article on the race from the National Post which was published in July, as well as listed some hitchhiking/Canadian travel related books for any intrepid backpacker to read in the extras section. Until next time, folks!

Finally! The brand spanking new Thumbs Out website is up. It only took me a day at home sick with the flu to get this new layout up. Sorry for the massive delay, guys! So there are still things to be fixed up, of course. The comments have been disabled for now, still figuring out the glitches there (plus we've been getting a lot of spam lately, which sucks). So if you have any comments to give, feel free to send us an email or sign the guestbook. Also, the team blogs are still featuring the old layout, but you can still access them in the Teams section. Again, that will be fixed soon.

Other than that, there is a bunch of new content up including film information and a photo gallery. There is also some information on Thumbs Out Version 2.0: the second, more epic race we are hoping to organize for the summer of 2008. As for the film, we are still in the process of trying to raise money for post-production. To all of you who have suggested cheaper ways to go about attaining a massive amount of harddrive space, thank you!

So yes, the new website still needs a bit of tweaking, but it will be alright soon enough. Be patient and just enjoy what we've got for now! Thanks.
